Rainstorm Renders Over 60 Families Homeless In Kwara

Rainstorm, which lasted several hours on Friday night, has rendered over 60 families homeless and damaged property worth millions of Naira in Ilorin East and Asa Local Government Areas of Kwara State.


The Special Adviser to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed on Emergency and Relief Services, Abdullahi Duro-Mohammed, gave the figure in Ilorin, the state capital, shortly after inspecting the affected areas in the two councils. Mr Mohammed said that 43 residents, including aged and pregnant women, were affected in the Ilorin East Local Government Area, while the remaining victims were from Asa Local Government Area. The affected communities in Ilorin East include Adangba, Okelele and Kankatu while communities affected in Asa Local Government Areas are Passa and Orogbangba. The victims in the two Local Government Areas are now refugees in Mosques, public schools in the areas and homes of neighbours not affected by the rainstorm.
