The death toll in a bomb explosion that rocked a mosque in Mulai area of Maiduguri, the Borno State capital has risen to 32 and number of injured has also risen to 30.
The bomb went off when worshippers were observing their Magrib prayers.
The Police have confirmed residents’ belief that the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber.
The Police said in a statement by the Commissioner
of Police that “at about 6.35 PM on Thursday, two suspected suicide bombers detonated IEDS in and outside a Mosque at Mulai.
“The mosque consequently collapsed injuring many people praying.
“While the number of deaths is about 14 so far, including the two bombers, casualties have been evacuated to UMTH and Specialist Hospitals in Maiduguri.”
He added that investigation was in progress as normalcy had been restored to the area.
Thursday’s bombing came barely 48 hours after a similar incident occurred in Sajeri area of Maiduguri.
7 people were killed and 17 others injured after three female suicide bombers on Friday detonated Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) at Umarari Bayan Waya area of Mulai Village in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital on Friday.
The blast was reported to have occurred few minutes past 5AM when Muslim faithfuls were getting ready to for their early morning prayer.
The explosion claimed the lives of the suicide bombers and 4 others while 17 injured are currently receiving treatment at the Specialist Hospital.
