Lamar Odom ’Still Really, Really Sick’ — Why He’s Not Doing Well

Lamar Odom may have made some incredible strides in his health since waking from a coma on Oct. 16, but he’s not out of the woods just yet. The NBA star still has quite a ways to go before he is fully recovered, as doctors continue warn friends and family that he’s still ‘not doing well.’

Progress may have been made, but things are still looking pretty scary for Lamar Odom, 35. While the former NBA star has crossed some very important hurtles in his recovery from an alleged drug overdose, doctors warn that he still has a long way to go before he’s officially in the clear. Get the latest details on his condition here.
While things continue to look up for Lama since being transferred to Ceders-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles where he will continue his rehabilitation, doctors warn that it will be a slow process, according to a new report by Us Weekly. “He’s still really, really sick,” explained the source. “There are a million things they’re doing to him still. He’s not doing well. He’s talking a little bit, but not full sentences.”
Unfortunately, Lamar is still experiencing major problems with his kidneys, and may even have to undergo a transplant if things don’t improve. Now that he was been transferred to the Los Angeles hospital, the 35-year-old will reportedly undergo six hours of dialysis a day for his failing organs. But if this doesn’t help move things along, he could have to have the transplant, which TMZ reports, will not happen overnight. “[Patients] have to go through a vigorous process to get on the transplant list, physically, psychologically and mentally,” top Urologist Dr. S. Adam Ramin told HollywoodLife.com. “It can take months or years to get a kidney. It is not like you go into kidney failure and tomorrow you get a new kidney.” Hopefully dialysis can do the trick and the surgery won’t be necessary!
Meanwhile, by his side throughout this whole ordeal is Khloe Kardashian, 31, Lamar’s estranged wife. he was photographed for the first time since his hospitalization on Oct. 19, heading to the helicopter to join Lamar on his trip back to L.A, and plans to continue to provide care for him even after he’s out of the hospital. “Khloe knows the hard work is ahead,” an insider told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “Doctors have told her Lamar’s going to need an extensive amount of rehabilitation and she’s preparing for that by turning her home into a rehabilitation center.”
As HollywoodLife.com previously reported, Lamar is currently eating food on his own, but he’ll need months of therapy and rehab to relearn how to walk and talk, and it’s possible there will be permanent damage done on his body after everything that’s happened.
