These are commission’s 5 new National Commissioners

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, nominated five new National Commissioners to serve in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The commissioners’ appointment was subsequently approved by the Council of State at an emergency meeting called by Buhari.

The five new INEC National Commissioners are:

1. Mrs. Amina Zakari (North-West)
2. Dr Anthonia Taiye Okoosi (North-Central)
3. Alhaji Baba Shettima Arfo (North-East)
4. Dr Mohammed Mustafa (South-South)
5. Mr Soyebi Adedeji Solomon (South-West)

The Council of State has also approved the appointment of Professor Mahmood Yakubu, as the substantive Chairman of INEC.
